Wednesday 7th October

We started to watch another 'ethnic based' film during this lesson called East Is East. It was released in 1999 and became the highest grossing British film that year.

It shows how children of a multi- cultrual family, with a Catholic mother and a Muslim father, have to deal with the confusion of religious values and traditions. There are also forms of racism and differences in sexuality therefore showing realism/ social realistic stories.

We then got homework which we have to do by next Wednesday. It is to create representation charts for this film and two other films which we have watched in class.
This will help when looking back over notes as it breaks down the film into catagories such as:
  • Gender
  • Class
  • Sexuality
  • Disability
