This lesson we mainly focused on genre and types of film genre. Genre is a style overall of what is included in the film and using generic convention (accepted features) to define the genre, and with past films with the same qualities in certain genres the audience will have certain expectations of the certain style of film. We also discussed the conventions of each genre, for example horror movies usually include blood, death, mysterious actors, and lots of victims all of these conventions makes the film instantly recognisable of which genre it is when watching it.
There are also three different strands necessary in the film industry:
-Producer.. provides a template, instantly recognisable to audience
-Distributer.. provides key marketing strategies in order to connect with target audience
-Audience.. easily identify genre.
This formula helps them select the product before even viewing the film and by using knowledge from past films in the same genre.
